Fraser Street Run Club
Last year, WATARI's executive director Michelle Fortin contacted us about running the Eastside 10K in association with WATARI Counselling & Support Services Society . Given the great work that WATARI does and Fraser Street Run Club's desire to support and give back to our community, we gladly accepted the invitation. Consequently we had over 20 runners compete in the 2014 Eastside 10k, raised money for WATARI, and had heaps of fun doing it. As such, we are pleased that the Canadian Running Series has provided us with the opportunity to formalize this relationship this year. Not only are we excited by getting more of our runners out on race day, and raising more money this year, but also by the chance to engage in friendly competition with other local run crews. Two core values of Fraser Street Run Club are inclusivity and community development. One of the main reasons that it has been easy for us to decide to support WATARI is that these values are directly aligned with the work they do. WATARI employs a community development model to facilitate positive change with at-risk children, youth, and their families while embracing diversity as an integral part of being a caring community. These are values and activities that Fraser Street Run Club strongly supports and we are honoured to be able to raise money and awareness for WATARI at the Eastside 10k again this year.
