I hiked this grind last year and made it to the top even if I was the last across the finish line. This year will hopefully be better. The reason to do the grind is to raise funds to go towards the research for cancer treatment. Any donation would e appreciated as we all have been touched by cancer in some form. Thank you for your help.

Chris was our cousin, friend and inspiration. We lost him much too soon to a disease that could have been prevented if he had been given the chance to be tested. We want to raise awareness for Colon Cancer testing so that more people can be screened... regardless of age.

We cannot continue to let the brightest and the best die from this disease when there are tests available for early detection and 90% success rates if the disease is caught in stage one or two..I will continue to work to raise the profile of colon cancer until such time as it gets the attention and diagnostic treatment that it deserves. This mom lost a wonderful young son to this disease, I don't want that to be your story

In October 2013 Joel was diagnosed with stage III Rectal Cancer. Surgeries and chemotherapy treatments started immediately and filled virtually the next 1.5 year of our life. Joel smiled and remained strong and positive throughout it all. He is now 6+ months of being 'Cancer free'. We were so blessed with support from family and friends that we'd like to help to raise some money for Colon Cancer awareness and treatments, every dollar helps!!!!

The loss of a child is every parent's worst nightmare. Her courage to be so open and share her experience is as humbling as it is motivating.

Giants Head Grind - 2015 General Donations ( details )

On behalf of Chris’s entire family and with great support from The Summerland Rotary Club, we are very pleased to see the second annual Giants Head Grind - Christopher Walker Memorial Race taking place on Giant’s Head Grind in beautiful Summerland, British Columbia on Saturday, May 16, 2015. Chris had a journey with Cancer that touched our lives in ways we could never have expected, which ultimately ended his life. It was a terrible journey that so many in our community have sadly had to take with their own loved ones. We hope that this race and the spirit it will bring to the City of Summerland, will urge us all to move ever forward and continue to always climb that next peak.

Support an Individual or Team
